Dr Steven Gaff was appointed as a full-time Staff Specialist at The Alfred in 2007 after extensive training in the UK, Ireland and New Zealand. He jointly established the regional anaesthesia program at The Alfred and since 2008 he has been Head of Anaesthesia at Sandringham Hospital.
His clinical interests include regional, vascular, trauma and neuroanaesthesia. He has a special interest in outcomes associated with neuraxial, peripheral nerve and plexus blockade as well as ultrasound in anaesthesia. During his sabbatical in 2012 he visited numerous regional anaesthesia centres in the UK, Europe and Australasia as well as undertaking trans-thoracic echocardiography training and certification.
Dr Gaff has published numerous book chapters and scientific papers. He regularly delivers presentations externally with an emphasis on quality and safety in regional anaesthesia.
